This custom made stoneware serving bowl was hand carved and formed. The glazes used on this piece are custom mixed made for firing in an electric kiln at high temperatures with a reduction atmosphere. I finish the glaze in a semi-matte so it is easier to use as a serving dish - this also makes the dish lightweight and comfortable to hold.
Stoneware fired at high temperatures are known to be very durable - with proper care, this piece can last for centuries.
*This bowl is dishwasher safe and can be warmed in the oven up to around 350 degrees. It is not designed for stovetop use. This bowl is approved for microwave use -- NOTE: extended microwave use (over many decades) on ceramic items with high power settings can cause the piece to become dry or brittle.
